Finally, I could keep counting my abdominal breaths from 75 to zero without losing count. For several days “keeping the count” seemed impossible to do. By “concentrating” my “mind” on “counting down” my abdominal breaths, I was able to experience (discern) several “mind-states.” (i) focused. (ii) discursive, “monkey,” wandering, or chattering mind. (iii) awareness” of the different mind states – chattering, concentrated, and controlled. As I’m trying to keep a moment-by-moment awareness, sometimes all “activity” ceases, and I’m able to experience (discern) a “still mind-state.”
