Embrace each breath and let the music of mindfulness guide you to deeper understanding and tranquility.

Summary: I blend a widespread breathing practice with awareness and stillness meditations in my spiritual jazz and meditation jam sessions. Inspired by a 75-day breath-counting journey, this practice deepens mindfulness and explores the dynamic interplay between meditation and sound. Join me on August 21, 2024, for an immersive session featuring John Coltrane’s ‘A Love Supreme.’ Experience the transformative power of mindful breathing and spiritual jazz.

In my Spiritual Jazz and Meditation Jam Sessions, I incorporate a widespread breathing practice alongside awareness and stillness meditations. These meditations serve as modes of investigation, allowing me to explore the profound connection between spiritual jazz and mindful breathing.

On December 4, 2022, I embarked on a breath-counting journey during my Year 75. Each day, for 75 days, I counted my breaths from 75 down to zero:

75, I breathe in.
74, I breathe out.
And so on, until I reached zero.

I shared daily reflections throughout my practice, illustrating new dimensions of this simple yet powerful practice of delving into stillness, energy, and clarity.

Energy-Massaging and Stillness: By focusing my breath from the sacral to the root chakra, I experienced subtle energy shifts, cultivating a deep sense of calm. Practices like Savasana in hot yoga amplified this stillness, revealing profound bodily insights.

Moment-by-Moment Awareness: Restarting my breath count whenever I lost track helped me cultivate mindfulness and stay anchored in the present moment. This practice enhanced my awareness, promoting relaxation and mental stillness.

Mind Watching and Investigation: Observing my mind’s activity during breath counting provided insights into my mind states. This practice transitioned my mind from active to quiet, fostering a deeper understanding of my inner self.

In my upcoming Spiritual Jazz and Meditation Jam Sessions, I will integrate this breathing practice to explore the interplay between meditation and sound and vice versa.
